He started practice in the Law Firm of Abdullahi Ibrahim and Company from November 2005 in Kaduna; he worked in the Head Office of the same Law Firm for a year in the course of the mandatory National Youth Service Corp from 2006 to 2007. He joined The Chambers of Mohammed Shuaib in 2008 and in 2009 he went to the University of Abertay Dundee in the United Kingdom where he obtained a Master’s in Business Administration with specialization in Energy and Petroleum in November 2010. Mashood also obtained an LL.M (Energy Law & Policy) for the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP), University of Dundee, Scotland, United Kingdom in November 2013.
In the course of practice, he has extensively drafted intricate documentation, written numerous legal opinions on commercial law, Electricity, Oil and Gas law as well as on constitutional matters. Mashood regularly handles cases at the High Courts and Court of Appeal. He is an expert on Energy Law and Policy, loan negotiation, Islamic law and is very experienced in Litigation, arbitration, conciliation and mediation. In 2007, Dr. Muhammad went to Centre for Energy Petroleum Mineral Law and Policy of the University of Dundee, Scotland United Kingdom where he obtained a master’s degree (LL.M) Petroleum Law and Policy. He worked as a Consultant Programme from March 2008 to September 2008. Maryam attended Ahmadu Bello University Zaria between 1997 and 2003 and the Nigerian Law school Kano Campus between 2003 and 2004 where she obtained her LL. B Hons and B.L. respectively. She was an Associate at the Group Company Secretariat, Abuja Investments Company Limited and the Company Secretary Abuja Urban Mass Transport Company Limited. Prior to this, she launched into her career as a prosecutor at the Ministry of Justice, Kaduna State.
Maryam’s LLM research was focused on the protection of human rights under the Criminal Justice Administration in Kaduna State. She just concluded her PhD. program at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where her research focused on “Analysing the Legal Framework for the delivery of Public Private Partnership Projects in Nigeria”. Maryam is also a 2015 Associate Fellow of the Nigeria Leadership Initiative (NLI). She has passed her Associate level exam at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London, United Kingdom. She became a Member of the Chartered Institute of Corporate Administrators in 2016. Maryam is a 2014 Mandela Washington Fellow. President Obama’s fellowship for the top 1% (500) young African leaders who have distinguished themselves in public management, civic leadership and entrepreneurship.
